Needless to say, we have fallen in love with Croatia. Having sailed around the Dalmatian Islands off Split for over three years now, it never ceases to amaze us just how stunning the area is and how incredible it is to explore and sail the Adriatic Sea.
So, why come sail the Adriatic? In this blog I give you three top reasons from my own perspective, and there are so many more. This is just a small taste of what sailing around the Adriatic has to offer.
UNIQUE VIEWS
Number one for me, is that every morning you wake up to a new, unique view. Think about it, a different set of scenery at one of many unspoiled locations, every day! Imagine, either from a buoy surrounded by calm, azure waters, or moored at one of the gorgeous old island villages, oozing with charm and friendly locals.
BEAUTIFUL BAYS
Add to that, as you sail you are able to take in some of the most beautiful scenery Croatia has to offer. There are secluded bays, along with amazing hidden, rocky coves. Sun lovers can take advantage of the seclusion to enjoy sun and sea, either on board, or on land. Adjusting to a slower tempo and the relaxed authentic atmosphere surrounding you, it’s exactly what a holiday should be.
LOCAL COMMUNITIES
Finally, it’s not all about the sailing, the sea and the sun. Throughout Croatia, locals welcome visitors with open arms. Everywhere you go they are eager to share with you their cultural, gastronomical and historical heritage. There are so many little bays all around the islands with beautiful little family owned and run restaurants, often with little pebbly beaches, just outside.
