Three Key Reasons We Choose Monohulls v. Catamarans

 In Crew Notes

Monohulls v. Catamarans

The most obvious difference of course, between catamarans and monohulls is that a monohull vessel has only one hull, or main body, whereas a catamaran has two hulls.

Why Not A Catamaran?

So, why do we prefer monohulls v. catamarans for our guests sailing holidays?  We get this question all the time, listen to Nick elaborate on our three key reasons below.

Three Key Reasons

  1. Comfort – while catamarans are certainly faster, you may pay the price with a  slapping and less comfortable ride.
  2. Price – not only are catamarans more expensive to hire, dockage is more expensive because of the additional beam
  3. Sailing Interaction –  spectator or sailor, everyone is together in the cockpit

Of course, there is no single “best” choice or one size fits all for every family.

Talk to us when you are planning your family sailing holiday in Croatia, and together we can weigh your needs and see if a monohull is best for you.
